Bio

Daneen Wilkerson is a Massachusetts-based freelance artist whose work lives at the intersection of epic storytelling and deeply human moments. Working across multiple mediums, she is best known for narrative-rich imagery that captures characters on the brink of transformation — the breath before action, the quiet resolve before defiance, the spark of hope that changes everything.

Raised in the Midwest and shaped by the expansive optimism of Star Trek, the strength of Xena: Warrior Princess, and the layered politics of Babylon 5, Daneen brings a lifelong love of science fiction and fantasy into every piece she creates. She treats each illustration as a storytelling problem to solve: How do you imply a world beyond the frame? How do you make a single image feel like a chapter torn from a larger saga?

Her work emphasizes resilience, complexity, and representation — centering characters who reflect the richness and diversity of real human experience. Whether illustrating for global franchises or independent creators, she builds worlds where more people can see themselves as heroes and the natural world is celebrated.

Daneen’s clients include Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and numerous independent authors. She has exhibited at Illuxcon annually since 2014 and has served since 2009 as a Program Coordinator for The Illustration Master Class (IMC) and SmArt School, founded by Rebecca Leveille Guay, helping foster community and mentorship within the illustration field.

When she’s not painting, she can be found immersed in video games and tabletop campaigns, tending her garden, spoiling her dog, or enthusiastically tackling renovation projects — always ready for an excuse to pick up a drill and build something by hand.

Inquiries from new clients are welcome and commissions are open.
